I was very excited about getting this gig - working on one of Marvel's iconic, flagship titles like Uncanny X-Men has long been a dream of mine - and now it's come true!

This image was an experiment with using 'underpainting'. I'm really happy with the finished result which gives the whole picture a feeling of intensity and heat. The 'retro' feel is quite deliberate - I felt it was right for the series, with Vulcan hailing from the classic Claremont/Cockrum/Byrne era.
