Venom - May 2001

A major improvement on the first version. Venom makes more sense than the Goblin - he wouldn't set off Parker's spider-sense, whereas the Goblin would. This version's a lot more thought-out and planned. I spent time on the preparation and prop gathering. The setting and figures are more realised than in the first version.

In all my ref shots now, I try to get people to act as opposed to just posing. It makes the finished work easier and quicker to do and makes the end product more believable.

The first version of this painting can be seen here.
