The series writer David Hine did the initial thumbnail for this, allowing me to get straight into the finished pencils.

I managed to find a shot of a New York street that I'd taken when I was over there a couple of years ago, to use as a suitable backdrop.

I knew this one would take an age to do, and it did! It's what I love about the Marvel Universe most that comes into play in this pic: superheroes in real situations, interacting with real people.

DC stories take place in imaginary cities, like Metropolis for example, but you know Spidey is in New York. For me it makes it easier to do my thing, to try and emulate Rockwell. His work, whilst idealised, was about real people. I think Quicksilver is pretty real here. I actually like this image, probably the best thing I've done for a couple of years.
