This was originally intended as a version of Justice League #1 or JSA #16. I experimented with a new approach to lighting on this one, which took a while to sort out. I only had one panel of reference for Brainwave. He looked completely different from his appearances in Infinity Inc. so I decided to emphasise that. For Northwind, I simply used an eagle's head from a wildlife magazine.
