There's not much I can say that hasn't been said already. Deservedly recognised as an incredible illustrator, Adams' amazing use of colour is often overlooked. Everyone knows the major stuff, but check out his 'House of Mystery', 'House of Secrets' and 'Tomahawk' covers also.

Cardy is a wonderful artist, innovative in his design. He is without doubt responsible for some of the finest covers ever. Check out his run of covers on 'Aquaman' (esp. issues 37 to 52), his 'Teen Titans' work (highlighted by the interior to #13) and 'Bat Lash' where he really gets to showcase his versatility.

I always liked his work from when I was really young. A hugely underrated artist.

New Teen Titans was a huge influence on me. I still don't feel that those characters look right with anyone else drawing them!

A recent addition to my list of influences although I've unknowingly been into his work for years. Similar in many ways to Rockwell's work. His Back to the Future posters are incredible.

Probably my favourite interior artist of all time. Check out the superb Black Canary strip from Adventure comics 418/419 and his fabulous b & w Warren work.

A true giant of the comics industry - responsible for revamping the fortunes of DC's Legion Of Super-Heroes and Marvel's X-Men, thanks to his original and imaginative costume design and fluid, action-packed panels. An inpiration for anyone aspiring to work in the industry.

Another superb exponent of the dynamic panel, Mike Grell's early Adams-esque style is showcased to perfection in his early 70s work on Green Lantern/Green Arrow and Legion Of Super-Heroes.

Comics legend Joe Kubert has thrilled readers for years with his effortless story-telling and impeccable anatomy. Check out his fabulous runs on Tarzan, Tor and Sgt. Rock for starters...

McBride was an incredible artist, his watercolours are vibrant and I love his attention to detail and accuracy.

Alan has improved constantly over the last 20 years. I didn't realise how good he was until I tried doing interiors myself. He's fantastic!

Coipel is another artist developing all the time. I thought his Thor was the best since Walt Simonson. Saying that, I really liked his Legion stuff from way back. Brings a nice European sensibility to American comic books...and check out his incredible con sketches.

The best cover artist around. I was lucky enough to see the original for one of his Catwoman covers and it was amazing. Also, get his Cover Run book - highly recommended. I always disdained using digital methods until I read some of Adam's thoughts on Photoshop. Hughes is the best colourist in comics. He uses the same tools as other colourists, he just uses them "right"! Though I think him being an incredible artist has a lot to do with that too - but you get the point!
